Mentor's 11+ Programme is designed to help students get in great shape for their impending exams. Our popular courses cover the fundamentals and beyond. 'Essential' and 'Stretch' style question types helping to hit the ground running in Year 6.


Who will benefit? Year 5 pupils preparing for the Independent and Grammar school selective school tests inc: Alleyn’s, City of London, Dulwich College, Emanuel, Epsom College, GDST, Highgate, JAGS, KCS, Latymer, Westminster, Grammar schools.

Our success rate: 90% of our 2020 pupils gained places at their 1st choice schools – with many scholarships.

Who teaches the courses? At Mentor it is all about great teaching and our group tutors are experts with oodles of school entrance experience. Dynamic lessons with varied and challenging content, focused on confidence boosting and 11+ success. Reports will follow each Course or Mock with individual tips and advice and goals.

Weekly Group

11+ MATHS: CONSOLIDATING CORE SKILLS

11+ ENGLISH: CONSOLIDATING SKILLS & TECHNIQUE

10 x WEEKLY 1 HOUR LESSONS: £360.00

Who will benefit? Our Group sessions are designed for Year 5 students working towards the same goals. Learning in groups offers cost effective access to the best tutors, and small class sizes mean plenty of individual attention in a sociable and dynamic learning environment. Max. 6 pupils.

11+ MATHS: ADVANCED SKILLS

11+ ENGLISH: ADVANCED SKILLS & TECHNIQUE

Who will benefit? Group sessions designed for very able Year 5 students working at a higher level. A focus is on developing ‘Stretch’ style answers (which appear at the end of papers).

How do I join a group? Typically these are groups of school friends applying to similar schools. Max 6 pupils.

Where are the groups taught? We run after school groups from our bright and modern Mentor classroom in SW12. Drinks and snacks are supplied.

Holiday Courses:

Inspiring holiday courses helping to consolidate the syllabus fundamentals and further develop the higher-level skills required to tackle the harder aspects of the syllabus. 

FEBRUARY 17th – 19th: Introductory to 11+ Fundamentals

EASTER APRIL 14th – 16th: Developing 11+ technique

HALFTERM 2nd – 4th June: 11+ Advanced skills

SUMMER 18th – 20th August / 25th – 27th August: 11+ Back to school

Topics covered? Each course will progress in difficulty and content will include:-

  • Maths Core Skills Mastery: Accuracy, confidence & speed and how to confidently tackle unfamiliar maths puzzles and problems, the common pitfalls.
  • Verbal, Non-verbal and Spatial reasoning: Advanced pattern recognition, question types & associated strategies.
  • How to Present Your Best Self: Thinking ‘out of the box’, current affairs, debating, visual analysis and interview techniques.
  • English Skills: Comprehension tips, and how to unpick difficult questions

Mock Exams 2021

Nothing is quite like your first school exam, which for some can be a daunting prospect.

Our Mock exams aim to familiarise children with the real test, helping them to stay calm whilst making speedy and measured decisions, under supervised, timed conditions. A detailed report will follow each exam which will identify knowledge gaps and signpost the next steps.

Interview Technique Workshop

The interview process will often involve a variety of on the spot challenges. Our confidence boosting interview preparation helps remove the stigma and encourages children to be themselves and present their best version. We have extensive knowledge of common question types and the workshop includes current affairs, mental maths, lateral thinking, comprehension techniques and visual analysis. Loads of fun and very empowering!
