Family aspirations

Ari’s family lived in the UAE where he was schooled at an International school teaching to the British curriculum. Ari’s mum and dad wanted him to attend secondary school in London but needed him to be prepared online for all his 11 Plus assessments. They came to us in the January on Year 5, meaning there was less than 12 months to go. 

Academic diagnosis

Ari completed a CEM (Incas) academic assessment with us online from Dubai. Ari was behind his British peers in terms of his attainment in Maths and English, but he showed good academic potential.  He would need a lot of support to reach the standard of the London 11 Plus assessments with 10 months before the first assessment. 

How we helped

We advised Ari’s Mum and Dad that he would need a Maths tutor, an English Tutor and a Reasoning tutor every week to help him catch up and meet the 11 Plus standard.  Based on Ari’s scores, we also recommended several schools for the family to visit on a trip to London. Furthermore, we advised Ari to read every day and to read lots of different types of texts, to help extend his vocabulary. Ari worked hard, with lots of support from his Mum and Dad and made great progress with his academic studies.  The family also visited London in the summer before his assessments so that Ari could attend two weeks of intensive 11 plus sessions. 

Ari’s success

Ari was surprised and delighted to be offered a place at his favourite school, with a sports exhibition offered as well.
