7 Plus Holiday Courses

Holiday courses are a vital part of of your child’s 7 plus preparation, providing a timely boost in their preparation. Our courses are designed to be suitable for children looking to apply to schools such as Alleyn’s, Dulwich College, JAGS, King’s, Highgate, NLCS, City Junior, Westminster and St Paul’s.

• Our Easter Holiday course in Year One is vital to accelerate curriculum acquisition and ensure that fundamental mathematical understanding is in place and advanced phonic understanding is secure.

• Our Summer holiday courses start to develop the advanced skills for mathematical problem solving, and ensure that your child has mastered the full 7 Plus curriculum.

• Our October holiday courses teach your child the tricks needed to approach standard reasoning exercises, explore the increasingly complex language being used for the comprehension task, and develop a storybank to ensure a brilliant creative writing essay.

Our courses have been written by our Director of Education, who was Deputy Head at one of the best Prep schools in the country, with years of experience preparing children for the 7 plus. All our teachers are experienced qualified teachers with a track record of successfully preparing children for the 7 plus. We conduct them in small groups of no more than six children, but normally around four children. All our courses cover the core subjects or Maths, Comprehension, Creative Writing and Reasoning. The courses all run as weeks from Monday to Friday 9am to 12pm. We run them out of schools in Dulwich and in Hampstead.

Our October courses also involve a full dress rehearsal of the assessment morning that will mimic the kind that your child will be facing during the 7 Plus selection process. During this morning, your child will take part in a group interview, group activity and mock lesson. They will meet new teachers in unfamiliar settings and experience the different kinds of tasks they may face at interview. This preparation aims to give your child the exposure to a setting that will seem alien to the first time round. We will practice behaviours such as collaboration, taking turns, listening to instructions and speaking confidently with your child, so they can shine when their second stage assessments happen.
