Our Courses
Our October Courses are a vital part of your child’s 11 plus preparation. For children in year 6 this is a key moment to solidify their curriculum knowledge and start to develop the advanced skills for multi-step mathematical problem solving, teach your child the tricks needed to approach standard reasoning exercises, explore the increasingly complex language being used for the comprehension task, and develop a storybank to ensure a brilliant creative writing essay. Our course has been written by our Director of Education who was Deputy Head at one of the best Prep schools in the country with years of experience preparing children for the 11 plus. All our teachers are experienced qualified teachers with a track record of successfully preparing children for the 11 plus.
Prepare your child for success with our October half term course. Tailored for Year 6 students who are approaching their 11 Plus exams. We will be deep diving into each of the core concepts that are crucial to gaining 11 Plus success. We will ensure your child is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to get your child confident and thriving, even in the areas they find the most challenging.
The course will be a week long and can be taken on either of the two weeks in October, this is to accommodate the varying half term dates. The weeks will run from Monday to Friday, 9am- 3.30pm. In this time, the children will be covering all the core subjects of Maths, Comprehension, Creative Writing and Reasoning. Our course curriculum has been created by our Director of Education who has was previously part of the Senior Leadership team at one of London’s leading Independent schools, Pembridge hall.
To finish off the week, we will be conducting a full dress rehearsal of an assessment morning that will mimic the kind that your child will be facing during the 11 Plus selection process. During this morning, your child will take part in a group interview, group activity and mock lesson. Meeting new teachers in a new setting and experiencing the different kinds of tasks they may face at interview.
This assessment aims to give your child the exposure to a setting that can often seem alien. By having as much experience as possible in a a group setting, they will be well adverse in the types of tasks and behaviours that will be expected of them. Ensuring that they will be in the best position when taking their assessment.
