7 Plus Easter Course – Year 1 Maths, English and Reasoning

Mentor Education’s 7 Plus Easter Course is designed for Year 1 students preparing for 7+ independent school entrance exams, as well as Year 1 students gearing up for 8+/9+/11+ independent school exams. Whether your child is already having 7 Plus tuition or is just starting their journey, this course will provide an academic boost at just the right time.

For children in Year 1 this is a key moment to solidify their curriculum knowledge and start to develop the advanced skills needed to gain an offer from a competitive school. We typically teach the following topics on our Easter course:

• Shapes (Maths and Reasoning)
• Speed and accuracy in addition, subtraction and multiplication (Maths)
• Money problems (Maths)
• Sequences and patterns (Maths and Reasoning)
• Introducing Year 2 punctuation and grammar (Comprehension and Creative Writing)
• Planning and writing a story (Creative Writing)
• Inference (Comprehension and Creative Writing)
• Prediction (Comprehension and Creative Writing)
• Dictation and listening skills (Dictation)
• Exam techniques: practicing working to time and how to pick up more marks.
