7 Plus (1 Week Combined) Summer Course – Dulwich

This is week one of our highly successful, annual 7 Plus Summer Schools. These take place over the final two weeks of August. They focus on all subjects throughout the week in accordance with your child’s needs. The courses were written by our Director of Education, who was Head of Maths at a competitive prep school in North London. All sessions are taught by subject experts with significant 7 plus experience.

Our summer courses are an excellent way to refocus learning and boost motivation after the summer break, such that children hit exam season running. Week one offers an excellent opportunity for your child to deepen their understanding of Maths and Comprehension.

Week – Monday 18th – Friday 22nd August  

Maths 

• Mastery of the four operations
• Shapes
• Telling the time
• Fractions
• Multi step Maths problems 

Comprehension 

•  Practicing a range of different types of text, covering different genres and difficulty levels
• Vocabulary work and different types of words (synonyms, antonyms etc) 
•  Working on answering a range of different questions which vary in marks, for example PEE structure when answering questions. 
• Test technique ensuring the answers written are reaching the maximum marks and how to work on pace to complete all the questions. 

Creative Writing  

• Picture prompt writing 
• Continuation of the story writing 
• Writing a description 
• Language developing (types of words, figurative language) 
• Writing skills (sentence structure, sentence openers and senses) 
• Location: Hampstead and Dulwich

Reasoning 

• Working through a range of methodologies for verbal reasoning (Inset a letter, move a letter, same meaning, hidden words, related words, compound words etc) 
• Working through a range of methodologies for non-verbal reasoning (odd one out, changing pairs, complete the sequence, similar figures, reflections etc) 
• Working on test technique (process of elimination etc) 
• Applying the skills learnt to a range of mixed questions. 

Interview Technique 

• A range of tips and tricks on how to answer interview questions. 
• First impressions 
• Logic games for team interviews
