Mentor’s 11+ programme is designed to help students get in great shape for their impending exams. Our popular courses cover the fundamentals and beyond. Our courses are always taught in a way that makes sure that your child covers all the content that can appear in the 11+ but is exciting, engaging and fun. It is important to us that your child has a great rich learning experience as this will then promote better overall knowledge retention.
Our 11+ programme is tailored best to that year 5 pupils who are preparing for the Independent and Grammar school selective school tests. Examples of schools we have previously helped children prepare for include: Alleyn’s, City of London, Dulwich College, Emanuel, , Highgate, JAGS, KCS, Latymer, Westminster and many grammar schools. Some of these schools use The Wandsworth Test.
90% of pupils that sat our courses in 2022/3 gained places at their 1st choice schools. Many of these students managed to achieve scholarships.
Mentor is all about great teaching. All our courses, mock exams and revision weeks are written by our Director of Education, Karol-An Kirkman. Karol-An is the former Academic Head of Finton House Preparatory School. She has over 27 years of primary teaching experience and is a master of the 11 plus entrance process. Having previously helped hundreds of children prepare for their transition from primary to secondary, she really knows her stuff.
All of the courses are taught with dynamic, varied and challenging content. They focus on building a child’s confidence to tackle any challenges they may face and ensure their 11+ success. Individual written reports will follow each course or mock with tips, advice and goals.
“My son has been offered places at both his first choice schools – Alleyn’s and Dulwich College! I can’t thank you enough for the workshops and your endless advice! Your teacher raised the game way beyond the level that he was being prepared for at his school”. Easter course testimonial
Senior schools see interviews as a critical part of the assessment process. We have a bespoke programme and the expertise to help your child master their interview.
Our course will provide your child with an excellent understanding of the interview process and the knowledge and skills they need to enjoy their interview and confidently present their brilliant self for either day school or boarding options.
The course consists of 4 sessions: Two one-hour familiarisation and practice sessions; a full mock interview; and a feedback session with parents.
Course fee: £495
Even the most prepared child can feel daunted the first time they experience formal exam conditions.
Our mock exams aim to familiarise children with the real test environment, helping them stay calm while making speedy and measured decisions, under supervised, timed conditions.
We have formal long form paper mock exams taken in person at an invigilated centre, replicating exam conditions.
The 2022 dates for these are:
– 23rd September
– 14th October
– 28th October
– 4th November
– 18th November
– 9th December
Regardless of whether you are taking the mock ISEB digital pretest or the mock paper exam, you will recieve a detailed written report by our Director of Education, followed by an consultation call which will help identify knowledge gaps and signpost the next steps.
Course fee: A set of exams is £149 (one English, one Maths, one Verbal Reasoning, one Non Verbal Reasoning). We typically find children benefit from multiple rounds of practice and you can buy a package of three sets of exams (and mix ISEB digital pretest or mock paper exam) for £349
