Holiday Activities

We're here to help you and your child navigate the admissions process from start to finish.

Holiday Activities

With the stress of 11 plus preparation, school holidays are the perfect time to decompress and relax. It is also a great opportunity to spend some time together as a family. We have a range of fun and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy, with a subtle educational twist to make sure none of their hard work is lost!

When your child is on holiday it is a wonderful opportunity for them to seek out and enjoy new and interesting experiences. We recommend trying something new outside of their comfort zone, whether that be a different sport, getting involved in a local play, or trying out a new craft. Doing something outside of school will help your child develop some external friendships, which we greatly encourage as it will expand their circle and give them more social stability. School holidays are an important time for children as it is an opportunity to develop independence and diversify children’s interests.

While it is key during the holidays to give everyone time to relax and have fun, it is important not to let any of the hard-won work that you and your child have done during term time slip away. We have gathered a list of holiday activities that will keep your child entertained while also keeping their intellectual curiosity engaged.

Summer holiday activities

During Easter and Spring, it is the perfect time to teach your children about some international traditions to mark the Holiday and expand their cultural horizons. Or, if you are facing a long journey or rainy days indoors on Easter weekend, have a look at our family friendly activities to keep your little ones busy with lots of fun and even a little bit of education!

We have also compiled a list of Easter reads to keep your children’s comprehension skills and vocabulary up during the school break. Over the summer break, there are plenty of ways to keep busy and toe the line between educating and entertaining your children! We recommend attending some of the amazing open-air theatre that is available in London. Alternatively, if you are more of a sporty family, you could read up on some of our interesting Wimbledon facts before viewing the match. Or, if you prefer to escape the city, investigate some of the educational day trips to some of the most beautiful and interesting sites in the UK.

Winter holiday activities

During the colder months, we have some ideas on how to keep children entertained with some educational pastimes. We have compiled fun Halloween Tricks, for you and your child can celebrate the spooky holiday while learning a few ghoulish and gruesome things. In January, you could teach them some British history by exploring the rituals of Burns Night and some interesting facts about Robert Burns himself.

Additionally, you can check out our reading lists and recommendations. We cannot stress enough how much this helps with preparation.
